‘Cast unveiled for The Peaceful Hour 2 at Liverpool’s Royal Court’

Rehearsals are underway for Gerry Linford’s brand new show, The Peaceful Hour 2, at Liverpool’s Royal Court, and the cast can be confirmed. The show runs from 6 February to 7 March 2026.

Returning for the sequel in 2026 are Ellie Clayton, Julie Glover, Michael Hawkins, Angela Simms and Lenny Wood. Joining them are Nathan McMullen (Boys From the Blackstuff) and George Turner (The Tell-Tale Heart, The Lady Vanishes).

Directed by Emma Bird, The Peaceful Hour 2 picks up a year after the action from the critically acclaimed first instalment.

It only seems like last year that Julie and Tim first met but now they are preparing for a wedding. It’s not their wedding though, it’s Ange and Carl who are finally tying the knot. They’ve got everything that they need to be together forever. Love, trust, honesty and a dress with those puffy sleeves like Charlene off Neighbours.

It’s the night before the wedding and the lads are out on the stag while Julie and Edna are giving Ange a proper pamper. The problems begin when the stag do comes home early, bringing chaos in its wake in the form of a local gangster with a point to prove.

Gerry Linford’s sequel takes place in real-time, and is inspired by the late night radio show, The Peaceful Hour, which was broadcast on Radio City across four decades. With dedications, mentions, song requests, it was a cultural moment in the city and a firm water cooler moment for Scousers who tuned in from 10pm to 2am.

Director Emma Bird says she is delighted to be back and reminds people the action picks up where we left off in Spring 2025.

“Last year Tim and Julie met and fell in love and Carl proposed to Ange live on the radio during the iconic 1980s radio show The Peaceful Hour hosted by Pete Price.

It’s a joy to be back in the rehearsal room with this amazing cast plus we have two new cast members who are adding their own comic twists and chaos to the story.

This show promises to continue all the ups and downs, laughter and chaos from last year.

We’re having tons of fun and laughs in the rehearsal room and it’s only Week 2! Can’t wait for audiences to enjoy the show – plenty of laughter and great 80s tunes”.
