Taking place in the Cockpit Theatre on Friday, 28 August, Shakespeare North Playhouse will welcome audiences to a special evening in their “An Audience with” series featuring Liverpool creatives Ellis Howard and Chloe English, as the lifelong friends reflect on their extraordinary journey from working-class Liverpool to the forefront of British television.
Now both BAFTA nominees, Ellis and Chloe have become two of Liverpool’s most exciting creative voices. Ellis Howard was nominated for Best Leading Actor for his powerful performance in What It Feels Like for a Girl, the BBC adaptation of Paris Lees’ acclaimed memoir. Since emerging from Liverpool’s thriving theatre scene, Ellis has built an impressive career across stage and screen, with credits including Red Rose, Help and To Kill a Mockingbird.
Chloe English received a 2026 BAFTA nomination for her work on the acclaimed Liverpool comedy-drama G’wed, where she made her directorial debut on Series 2 while also co-writing the series. Celebrated for its wit, warmth and authentic portrayal of contemporary working-class Liverpool, G’wed has established Chloe as one of the UK’s rising writing and directing talents.
The “An Audience With” series offers inspiring cultural experiences and unique insights that are open to all, reflecting the Playhouse’s commitment to making the arts accessible and relevant to a wide range of audiences.
This special event gives audiences the opportunity to hear first-hand about the realities of building a career in the creative industries, the importance of friendship and community, and why working-class voices continue to shape some of Britain’s most exciting television.
